I try to do this every night (some times while listening to music or watching tv). One of my fitness goals are to become more flexible and then it’s nothing to do but work hard, right? I often hear my friends say they never stretch. I guess it’s not peoples first priority but you should not underestimate stretching! Here’s some benefits:
- Increased flexibility and joint range of motion
(helps to improve your daily performance).
- Improved circulation (prevents sore muscles).
- Better posture.
- Stress relief.
- Enhanced coordination.
Don’t forget to do a quick warm up before you start stretching. Enjoy!
Seriously though? Not only has thefitblrlife reposted a graphic that they didn’t make (you make yourself look like an asshole when you do that, seriously.), they actually had the audacity to attach a shitty and problematic link to it too. This is supposed to be a body positive post, and the article they linked to not only focuses on ‘getting rid’ of stretch marks, but also literally says:
Stretch Marks are a truly unfortunate condition. It is best that you make all attempts at avoiding them if possible.
You literally can’t make this shit up. Why would you not think twice before posting that? I don’t understand.
The fact that they’re blatantly trying to gain popularity off other people’s work is irritating, sure, but the real problem is the way they completely disregard common sense in order to do so. Seeing something supposedly body-positive allows people to let their guard down a little, assuming that at least this one post is safe from the barrage of body-negativity they get from the rest of the world. But no. This post just spreads the idea that body positivity is conditional - “Stretch marks are beautiful I guess… But only if you’ve tried every possible way to get rid of them, and here are some other things you might want to try, and you’re kind of an idiot for letting yourself get them in the first place, what were you thinking?!”. As if we don’t get these poisonous messages from enough other places. Thanks for that.
The fact that they would steal someone’s well-meaning, body-positive piece of hard work and taint it with their crap just for popularity is low.
People always ask about my stretch marks cause they’re on my knees. One boy called me part tiger I liked that though and ever since I hoped they would stay there forever.
